Domo Genesis & The Alchemist “No Idols” review

As it stands this is a top three project so far for me this year. The morning this album dropped, a few of my friends hit me up saying that this project reminds them of the old Odd Future days and it does take you down memory lane. It feels like I jumped in a time machine and went back to my early high school days.

Recently I have been thinking about who would be on my Mt. Rushmore of producers, and this album puts The Alchemist comfortably in that group. At this point anything that he touches turns to gold and stays in my rotation. Domo compliments these beats well and gives you some bars that make you rewind songs to make sure you heard him correctly. When I have listened to Domo in the past, it has always been on features and I always loved his flow, but this shows he can really carry the load on a project. The features from Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Action Bronson, Vince Staples and Freddie Gibbs just make this project more of a treat.

This album is a must-listen and it should be on lots of “end of the year” lists. It really showcases the power these two have individually as well as together.
