‘Aquemini’ is Outkast at the height of their creativity. The duo released this album after the East and West coasts were done feuding and Hip-Hop needed something new. Hip-hop has always been known for sampling, but this album is rooted in authentic Southern sounds like guitars, woodwinds, and harmonicas making you feel like you’re in the thick of the South. The lyrics are pretty progressive dealing with topics like technology, addiction, and some science fiction elements mirroring their 1996 album ‘ATLiens’ that had a futuristic theme.

Big Boi and Andre 3000 are without a doubt the best rap duo ever and this album proves it. I’m usually not a fan of projects that run more than 40-45 minutes with fluff songs, but ‘Aquemini’ is worth the full 75 minutes. It’s more of an experience than anything. A lot of rap albums are known for their hit singles, but ‘Aquemini’ as a whole comes together beautifully.
