CE: Individual matchup you’re looking forward to the most against the Bengals?
DL: Any matchup against the Bengals starts with their receiving corps. It’s the best in the league and, while you could make the case that the Browns revamped pass rush vs. the Bengals offensive line is the real battle to watch, any discussion about Cincinnati starts with Joe Burrow and those receivers.
The Browns have had success against them and Jim Schwartz’s scheme will emphasize man coverage and versatility. If Denzel Ward is back and healthy — he was placed in the concussion protocol after the Chiefs game — I’ll be curious to see if he travels with Chase and covers him wherever he lines up. That’s the matchup I’m hoping to see.
One other matchup to keep an eye on: Martin Emerson Jr. vs. Tee Higgins. Higgins is exactly the type of receiver you have in mind with a lengthy, athletic corner like Emerson, who is poised for a breakout year in 2023.
