Tom Izzo is already a historical figure in the college basketball world. Today, he just added to his incredible resume. The Big Ten is arguably the best conference right in college basketball and has a ton of depth, but Tom Izzo somehow keeps his team in the upper echelon year in and year out. Today, Izzo matched Bob Knight’s record for the most wins by a men’s basketball coach at a Big Ten school with 662. He did it in incredible fashion knocking off the best team in the conference, and a top five program in the country, the Purdue Boilermakers.
The Spartans have been in a little bit of slump lately losing four of their last six but this big win came right on time. Junior guard Tyson Walker hit the game winning 3-pointer to elevate the Spartans over the No. 4 Boilermakers 68-65. This is the type of win that helps teams gain momentum and confidence going into the conference Tournament and the Big Dance in March.
